That article focused on receiving and processing RF signals from devices. Hopefully, you learned the value of receiving signals from my previous Sonoff RF Basic article. However, there are also potential smarthome devices that receive RF signals. Another use is for remote light switches. I have a bathroom light switch located in an inconvenient location. There are many other devices controlled by RF signals.
If they are Mhz, then you can probably control them using the instructions below. You can translate these instructions to the other ways to send commands using this Tasmota reference. First, you have to find out what Topic your Tasmota is using. In my case, the Tasmota topic of note is:.

Once you enter this command, the Sonoff RF Bridge will beep once and then one of the lights will flash red real fast. Press the button on your remote that you want to learn in. The bridge will beep twice when the code is learned in.
The first way is to simply press the button in the Sonoff UI and it will send the signal. Replace the parameters appropriately. The -n option simply sends a null payload as no attribute is needed for this command.
If you want to use more than that, you can have the Tasmota send RF commands with the data you specify, as opposed to having it memorize different commands. This method requires you go to the Tasmota web UI and look at the console.
Make note of the data that follows the Sync, Low, High, and Data parameters. While this method takes a few more commands and requires you to record data, it does allow you to send as many different RF commands as you want! The Sonoff RF Bridge. So, why would you need an RF bridge? Well, if you have RF devices and you want to be able to interact with them through Home Assistant or some other hub that is connected to your home network, you need some way for those RF messages to be converted or relayed to the wifi network.
It receives RF signals and passes them on through your wifi network. It also can receive wifi commands and convert them to RF signals to send commands to RF enabled devices that are capable of acting on those messages.
I had a lot of requests for a video explaining how to make it interact with Home Assistant, and the good folks at Banggood were kind enough to send me one to try. Like all Sonoff devices they work out of the box with the eWeLink app. But you know me. And you know my firmware of choice has been Tasmota. Now, are you ready for the plot twist? In this case…. Bum bum bummmm. Tasmota does work with the RF bridge. And I loaded Tasmota onto this Bridge, but the output it gives is a bit tricky to deal with after.

But, to make things super easy for us Sonoffophiles, Jafterdark ignored his kids and other life responsibilities for hours to create a binary file to make flashing the Sonoff RF Bridge as easy as possible.I just received more neat little inexpensive Sonoff RFbridges from Banggood, this is a great boxed gadget for converting Mhz RF signals from various devices into WiFi.
As I got started, I immediately updated the Sonoff sofware revision from 2. Well, what did you expect? How easy was THAT. And why do I need more than one?
Firstly the latest release 8. Anyway as you might imagine I very quickly tired of the standard RF Bridge software and went off here for Tasmota. I flashed the Tasmota software, cycled the power, set the onboard switch back to ON and after a reboot, that was Tasmota up and running. I tried loading the config at the same time but messed up my WIFI password.
From there the board appeared on my network. I then tried an Itead water detector and a door sensor the Sonoff door sensor is limited to OPEN detection only — see further down for a link to one that handles open and close. There are limits as to how far one could expand the the types of sensors using the iTead RF software — the RF Bridge should be able to support a wide variety of remotes and sensors.
This should greatly extend the number of devices the Bridge will talk to and also allow the bridge to SEND commands itself. On the R2 RF-Bridge board, assuming you can muster up 3v3 without using the usb connector — no link cuts are needed follow instructions on the Tasmota site. The RF-Bridge Tasmota software will continue to function as before but now will accept new RAW data if you need that a setting in Tasmota needs changing to use RAW data — a Tasmota rule lets you set that mode permanently.
I have found that in my very wide single-storey house, I need a pair of RF Bridges to cover the entire house from door to door. Still — cheap. I figure two of these RF Bridges will do, as, from my house to the home office comprises several inches of solid stone wall and there have been no major miracles in RF technology recently. All of the Itead sensors work across from my office to the house no problem but I did find that the Itead door sensor detects opening only and so I bought door sensors from AliExpress.
To turn it on in the Tasmota console is easy…. Great little device! You can handle many different signal standards by making a small modification on the board and using the dedicated Espurna firmware. I actually thought I would need 3 of these for the whole house, but ended up using just 1 and reliability is great!
Not sure that needs any hardware changes. Thanks for the feedback. I have one of the R1 version of the bridge Can this detect any MHz? I guess easy way to find out is to load up the firmware and give it a go. I would appreciate your opinion on using mhz and the bridge as the main receiver for door and window sensors for a security system. I used the door sensors recommended by Dr Zzzs. They offer a different message when the sensor is opened and closed.
Also seem to be less hack resistant. Push rf code raw to nodered via mqtt publish rule in tasmota. Have nodered handle toggling or doing whatever action. Infinite scale.

I have two original, which one I loaded Tasmota over a year ago. Maybe two years ago. Nothing work with it. Any ideas how to get them working say to control a temperature sensor or garage door? I would try to port but it is beyond my skill set. Hardware seems solid on the review sample I have. Do you have the ability to reverse engineer. Looks like 2 chips are working together to make this work?
I sent you an email. At this time I'm able to receive RF with a mixed code between tinkerman one and mine mainly tinkerman. Latency and still getting duplicates.
I think the way he is stopping duplicates is fooled when it missintepretes one of the duplicate transmission. I haven't looked into it much. I actually have espurna installed, but i dont think it can work as a receiver that way.
Seems like it couldnt do both receiver and send. Only send after its learned. Im looking for something that can do both. At least receive since my broadlink can already do the sending part. I need the receive so that I can actually use RF remotes with it.
Also, the RF Bridge is esp, not 66 afaik. MACscr You can send arbitrary codes using the 0xA5 action, no need to have them learned beforehand. As 1technophile and I have figured out, it doesnt reliable work that way.
It works fine for learning a code and sending that code, but it cant consistently receive commands. Receiving or Sending the same code via RFbridge doesnt work.

So as to do this test I ordered a new one so as to be on the same hardware as most of the users my other RF Bridge is a demonstration old one. As the goal is to check the piligh library integration on the board we are going to try ZgatewayPilight of course.
